Seamless Pattern License

Every digital pattern purchase includes a license for the use of the design on physical products only. The terms below apply to all purchases. For any situation not covered here, contact us before purchasing.

What every purchase includes

Each purchase includes a non-exclusive, non-transferrable Commercial License for physical products, which permits:

  • Personal use
  • Commercial use when your business has 2 or fewer employees and sells fewer than 250 items with a design, where the finished physical product is made by you or your employee.

This covers most makers, small boutique shops and home based businesses.

When the Extended License is required

Select the Extended License in the listing if any of the following apply:

  • Your business has 3 or more employees
  • You will sell more than 250 items with the design
  • Your products are manufactured by a third party
  • You are a fabric or packaging print shop
  • You are a craft supply store

One Extended License covers one design. Fabric print shops are covered under this license.

Prohibited uses

Under either license, you may not:

  • Resell the file in any digital format
  • Alter or edit the digital file
  • Reproduce, copy, share, or give away the file
  • Claim the artwork as your own
  • Upload the file, or any file created from it, to print on demand or print fulfillment sites where the design would be available for others to purchase, including but not limited to Spoonflower, Zazzle, Redbubble, Gooten, Printify, Printful, Casetify, Contrado, TeePublic, Threadless, Alibaba, Aliexpress, and Merch by Amazon

Use is permitted for physical products only. Digital use is not permitted under any license.

Using a custom fabric printer

You may upload the file to a custom printing service that offers "print your own design" to have your own fabric or other raw materials printed. This is allowed as long as the design stays private to your order and is never listed where others could buy it. Printing this way still operates under the license you purchased, so the same employee and item limits apply.

Common questions

Can I sell items I make with these patterns? Yes. The Commercial License covers finished physical products you make and sell.

Does the 250-item limit reset? The limit applies per design. If you exceed it, the Extended License is required.

Can I use a pattern in my product photography and marketing? Yes. Photographs of your finished physical products may be used to market those products.

I want to license artwork for a brand or product line. Is that covered here? No. Brand and product licensing is a separate arrangement. Please visit the Portfolio page and contact us there.
